Icon Economic Stimulus -- Time for New Ideas

As we think about what we all need to get out of this economic and environmental mess we’re collectively in, let me share one person’s thoughts.  She says, “Let’s invest in our human infrastructure.”  What a great idea!  Riane Eisler is the author of books like The Chalice and The Blade that change the way we think and live and she has written a paper to the Obama Administration.  I invite you to read it, comment on it and pass it along. The Roadmap to a New Caring Economy

She writes:  “My suggestions are very specific. But their central theme is that the proposed stimulus plan can be a bridge to the kind of economy and society we need: one where caring for humans and the planet is the primary economic driver.” She recommends creating a new post for Human Capacity Development and recognizes the important work that caregivers (mother’s, fathers, sons and daughters, etc.) contribute to our society’s health.  Often that unpaid work doesn’t show up anywhere on the financial reports and so it doesn’t get due credit.  She encourages us to measure our quality of life alongside our GNP.

I think it’s a great conversation to have. Eisler has shared her paper with policymakers in Washington, but as our New President has said, this is really now about us all becoming active in the marketplace of ideas, rather than leaving it to others.  I hope you will join us at FlexPaths in collecting and distributing the best new ideas and conversations, right here.
