How Commonplace is Flex?

We’ve found that many people who want and need flex don’t ask for it because they’re sure they’ll get turned down. The predominant reason? They wonder why they should get something 'special'.

Turns out they're wrong and flex is becoming less and less special! In fact, flex is becoming the new normal...and we’ve got the stats to prove it. In 2009:

  • 38% of employers – large and small -- allowed employees to work from home or remotely
  • 35% of employers offered flexible work schedules
  • 26% of employers offered compressed work week options (4 10-hour days, 9-80’s) (SHRM 2009)

Why? Because employers get it: People who can set their own schedule and work where and how they are best supported are more productive, more engaged, more inclined to serve customers well and more likely to stay in the job. It’s as simple as that.
